An Exciting Revelation!
January 31, 2008Do you remember the assembly we had the other day? The one by Free the Children? Did you like it? I really, really enjoyed it. It actually got me thinking a lot about my role and why I’m here.
I’ve been having a lot of trouble and frustration trying to think of what I’m suppsoed to do with the rest of my life, as I’m sure some of you have been (as your blogs have told me…). Everything that I’m somewhat interested in, as soon as I think about doing that for the rest of my life I’m like, “meh.. ehhh.” and I don’t really think that it’s right for me.
When I was listening to the speakers though, the whole time I was thinking, “Yeah! Yeah! That’s right!” And it just really struck me that that was something that I could do. Helping people is actually a huge passion of mine. My youth group does outreach events where we go around the neighbourhood and hand out batteries for smoke detectors, or we serve breakfast for needy people in the community, and these are actually some of my favourite events. I really look forward to these.
So, just thought that I would share my revelation with you guys. It’s just exciting, finding something that actually I’m actually excited to spend years and years doing, whether it’s helping people in our community, or going on trips to Africa or Asia. I’m just really stoked about it.
Thats what I’m going to do too! Although I used to think I’d be an artist, than I thought I’d be a writer… but I guess I always knew I was going to do something for the world. My plan is to work for the U.N at some point, but I’ll probably start out doing volunteer work for the red cross or someother Aid/ relief organiztion, and I plan to live in Africa for a good while, maybe dabble in some journalism. Good Luck!
I think it is great when people choose to devote their life to helping others. The fact that you seem to be very passionate about it and enjoy doing it is all the better. More power to you!
Oh and do you know what aspect of this work you would like to get into?
I think that assembly proved that I want the right thing with my life. I’m all about others. I’de die 4 a total stranger…weird but yea…
I wanna be a child/teen psychologist to help ppl cuz I’ve needed a lot in my life and theres always someone 4 me to fall on when I can’t take anymore..
Yea…twas an incredible assembly
I would like to help the world by making music that people can love
That’s great Amy! I’m excited for you!
I don’t know where I would focus, Simon. I would probably be willing to do outreaches around the world, travelling wise, but not forever. Even just working alongside Free the Children or something local would be amazing. I will definitely have to do some more research and what-not to focus my plans.
